Skin Care

About Nia

Hi everyone and welcome to The Skin Love website. I have created this website for those individuals who want to have the perfect skin by setting a skin care regimen.

It was my senior year in high school when I noticed my first pimple. It was scary because I thought I was one of the few individuals that acne skipped. However, that was not the case and I had to research different products to prevent future breakouts.

Since acne was not common among the women in my family nobody really knew what to do and it was up to me to figure out what worked best for my skin type. In order to create a skin care regimen, one needs to understand their skin type. There are five general skin types: combination, dry, normal, oily, and sensitive.

Along my journey I discovered many products that worked and did not work for my skin type. Furthermore, my journey encouraged me to help others that are in the same situation I once faced. I spent a great deal of time researching these products and purchasing the ones that were within my budget.

Ever since my senior year of high school, I’ve had acne. While my acne has fluctuated in terms of severity over time, it never really went away until recently. During my college years I used oral and topical medications prescribed by a dermatologist to treat it. I quickly stopped the oral medication because of the side effects.

Furthermore, the more I used the topical medication the clearer my skin became. As soon as I would stop using the treatment my skin would breakout almost immediately. It made my skin look horrible and my skin was hooked on topical medications.

After college, I set a goal to stop using topical medications and find new solutions to help my skin. It was rough, I had never seen my skin breakout as bad as it did. I felt embarrassed.  But I am glad I did that because my skin has never felt this great!

As I begin my research, for products that would help my skin care without the use of medications I encountered a lot of good products as well as a lot of products that weren’t so good for me. Furthermore, it was important to find a routine that worked for me and would help my skin glow naturally. I could use these products every day and then suddenly stop using them and my skin would not breakout as it did when I used the prescribed treatment.

It is important to follow a skin care regimen no matter your skin type. Everything is trial and error until you come across products that really work for you along with your diet.

Taking care of your skin is all about balancing a variety of habits and making sure that you are consistent with your skin care regimen. This involves more than a one-step process in learning how to properly care for your skin and which products work best for you.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Founder of The Skin Love.
