Have you ever wanted a look that just looks natural? Well, when the hot months hit I hardly wear makeup because oily skin with a full face beat is not a good look. However, there are products available to give you that natural look while still covering redness on your skin or a pimple here and there. Natural makeup looks are always in style. Of course, it’s nice when you can do a bold look but who actually has time for that every single morning?
If you work 40+ hours a week, if you’re a full-time student, if you’re a mom it’s more than likely that your busy life does not grant you the opportunity to spend over an hour doing your makeup. Yet, look no further because I have found a look that takes less than 20 minutes and gives me a natural look.
Always Prep Your Skin
As the rule goes always wash your face with a cleanser and use toner and moisturizer prior to applying any makeup on your skin. Ask you know it is important to take care of your skin because you only get one face. If you avoid this step it may lead to breakouts and we do not want that to happen. Especially, when you are going for a natural look.
One of my favorite and probably the best skin care investments I’ve ever made is the Clarisonic Mia Smart. Why you may ask? It makes my skin feel so smooth and it really does clean deep down into my pores. I believe that everyone should get their hands on one of these just experience how great it makes the skin feel.
A lot of people use their Clarisonic Mia every day, however, I only use mine once every two days. It really depends on your skin type as well. Make sure you research what will work best for you.
Use Primer & Concealer
Primer is an important step to your makeup routine. You want the primer that you are using to be oil-free especially if you have oily skin. I noticed that using a primer helped a lot with keeping my makeup in place over 8 hours. This is an essential step during the summer months, especially if you live in a humid city. I live at the beach so during the summer months, less is more and I mean that in every aspect, ha! My favorite concealer is Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. A small amount goes a long way. I also love how it makes my skin feel.
However, you also want to make sure that you are using a concealer to cover those dark circles. I mean I could get 12-hours of sleep and still have dark circles underneath my eyes because I was born with them lol. A concealer also helps hide fine lines and/or blemishes. Which hide any of your imperfections and makes your skin look flawless. My favorite type is the Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer.
Also, I love using a green color corrector to cover the redness on my skin. My go-to all time favorite is the Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid Green.
A Light Foundation/Powder
You are going for a natural makeup look so use a foundation that is light and not too thick. Same goes for the powder you decide to use. Make sure not to overdo your powder. Apply your foundation evenly with a brush or sponge, in which will give you the natural makeup look.
My favorite foundation to use with my oily skin is Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation Santa Fe. Ever since I have been using this foundation I have not had any issues with having an oily T-zone. However, I also set my foundation with Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder. It’s great for oily skin especially during summer months.
Neutral Eye Shadows
Stick to a makeup palette that has neutral colors. I would recommend that you apply a color that is just a tone or two darker than your skin tone. My favorite eye shadow palette for the natural makeup look is the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette. Any darker eye shadow will just give you a dramatic look rather than the natural look. Additionally, before applying any eye shadow please do not forget to use a primer for your lids. It will make the application of your eye shadow look 10 times better than if you did not use a primer. My favorite eye shadow primer is from Urban Decay and it is by far the best in my opinion to keep your makeup in place.
A Little Mascara
A thin layer of mascara will do the trick for this all natural makeup look. However, you could get away with skipping this step. I am the type of person that if I can skip using mascara and eyeliner I will because I just feel that I take forever at night trying to remove it. I also feel that it takes away from the natural makeup look that you are aiming for. I do use it from time-to-time but it’s never my preference.
My favorite mascara to use to create the natural look is from Clinique because it feels very light and it’s super easy to remove.
Stick to A Nude Lippie
My favorite step to achieving an all natural look is using a nude lippie. I feel that year round I stick to neutral colors and I have a natural look. I always stick to a nude lippie but my favorite is probably from Anastasia Beverly Hills. However, there are many brands you can use to give you the natural look with a nude lipstick.
Makeup Setting Spray
What would I do without a setting spray! My makeup would literally stay on everyone’s shirt once I hug them. Once I found out about Urban Decay’s De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray I never looked back. It is probably one of the best things I’ve ever owned. You need to be able to set your natural makeup look as soon as you’ve completed your look.
In conclusion, if you have any questions please leave me a comment and I will get back to you. Also, if you are using other products that work well please let me know so that I can look into them as well.
