Skin Glow Tips: 4-Steps to Naturally Glow

In today’s society, we are aware of how hard it is to maintain a good skin care routine especially if you have oily skin. Furthermore, we see many people on social media showing us how “easy” it is to have beautiful skin. Even though, we may know that some of those photos are photoshopped. Yet, we still believe that if they can get their skin to look as if it has a natural glow, we want to know what app they are using. The good news is that there are ways to make your skin glow naturally. Below I will discuss the four-step approach that has helped me tremendously.

Drink More Water

I can not stress this step enough. Water is necessary in our every day lives. I’ve met young ladies who do not drink any water because they do not like the taste of it. Actually, when I was younger I would prefer any drink besides water, ha.

Additionally, thanks to my mother she always made sure I drunk more water than any of those sugar drinks. Even now I drink water a lot more than any other drinks. I crave sodas from time-to-time and I allow myself to drink some. I also drink a lot of orange and cranberry use and avoid purchasing sodas unless I’m craving it.

Overall, drinking an adequate amount of water daily is very important for your health. Water helps your body in digestion, circulation, absorption, and beautiful glowing skin. Also, skin cells, like any other cell in the human body, is made up of water. Without water, many of the organs in our body would not function properly. Drinking enough water combats skin disorders like psoriasis, wrinkles and eczema.

Dehydration is a leading cause of dull skin and wrinkles and contrary to what you may think, dehydration does not just affect dry skin types but can affect oily skin too.

Where do I start! I begin to exfoliate my skin once every week when I first learned about implementing this process to my skin care routine. I would usually exfoliate on Sunday nights because I wanted to start the week with a fresh face. Furthermore, I begin to notice how different my skin would look and feel after I would exfoliate.

When you exfoliate you face you are cleaning and unclogging your pores. In which prevents pimples from forming in the future. The reason behind this is that clogged pores trap oils under your skin’s surface which lead to breakouts.

Additionally, you should never exfoliate daily. You may exfoliate a few times per week but do not get carry away with exfoliating.

Exfoliation does not only help with skin problems, it also helps increase blood circulation, which may help you achieve glowing skin.

Get Enough Sleep

As a teenager, I always tried to fight my sleep, even as I got older. It was cool to be up late during summer months. However, I know that had a major effect on my skin. Going to sleep late also means that you will not want to wake up early the next day. Also, you won’t have the same energy you would have if you had a good night’s sleep.

The older I get the more important I find it to get a minimum of seven hours of sleep. Even though, I always have a million deadlines to reach I still try to balance my schedule to get enough rest. I would say that I get a minimum of seven hours of sleep just about every night with the exception of weekends, once or twice per month. I can also notice the difference when I stay out too late and try to go to sleep and wake up the next day with a pimple or two on my forehead or chin.

Not receiving an adequate amount of sleep detracts your skin from its natural glow. Additionally, not getting enough sleep results in poor water balance, leading to puffy bags under your eyes and under-eye circles, as well as dryness and more visible wrinkles. It is also proven that it accelerates the aging process, and we sure do not want this to happen to us!

The beach is one of my favorite places to relax

Everyone should take some time from their busy schedules and find a time to relax. Relaxing can be in variety of ways, it just depends on what makes you feel relaxed. Stress can manifest itself on one’s appearance in many ways but primarily by making the skin more sensitive and more reactive and making its glow disappear.

What can you do to relax? You can implement a set time for “downtime” and follow this routine. It should be something you look forward to at least once a day. Rest your mind by giving it a break such as: meditating, exercising, reading, shopping, or doing yoga. Spend a weekend at a spa, getting a facial, or getting your nails done. Its never too much to treat yourself! Additionally, stay out of drama so that you can live a stress-free lifestyle.

What are some of the benefits of relaxing? It helps your mind and body. It also lowers your chance of catching a cold or getting sick. It will also help ease your acne and provide that glow that you want.

    1. Hi Destiny,
I like using honey and sugar to naturally exfoliate once a week. I have also listed two options above that are great for different skin types. I have used the brand Yes To to exfoliate and I have oily/sensitive skin. I have never experience any irritation with that brand. Let me know if you have any more questions.
